Travel

“Therefore go…”

I have had a huge passion for the world since my freshman year in college, and have been itching to travel ever since! Last summer, my husband and I had the opportunity to travel to Durban, South Africa with a group from our church. We spent 10 days loving and serving both orphaned children and widowed women due to the aids epidemic. The trip to South Africa was my first time overseas and I absolutely loved everything about it! I’ve thought for a while now that missions would play a role in my life, and that trip definitely confirmed it. Adam and I have a huge desire to go as often as we can; loving, serving, and learning from the people in different countries and cultures.

Since living in Chicago, I’ve led a girls small group in our student ministries program. One of my main goals with these girls is to teach them about God’s heart for the world! It excites me to let you know that we will be taking a trip with our high school students to El Salvador in March! Three of my junior girls were chosen to participate in this trip along with 7 other students from our ministry. I’m thrilled to be able to travel with them on their first mission trip, and encourage and support them while we’re there!

The reason I’m telling you this is because with any serving trip, fundraising is required. I wanted to come up with a creative way to raise funds and this is what I would like to do. For any photography session that you book in the months of January, February and March, I will put those funds in full towards my trip to El Salvador. I need to raise a total of $1900 for this trip and I thought this could be a great way to start; you’ll be giving to a wonderful cause and also getting great photographs for you and your family!

If you’re not interested in a photo session but would still like to make a donation towards my trip, please feel free to do so! I would definitely appreciate the support! I hope you can sense my excitement for this trip! It’s an incredible opportunity and I’m ecstatic to watch our students experience God in a different part of the world! I believe that He will do big things in and through our group!

Thanks for your time, and if you’re interested in helping out please email me at [email protected]

Love

One of my best friends from Oklahoma came up to visit me last weekend! Kenzi and I met in college and have been great friends ever since! She has been dating Mark for over a year now, and recently moved to Kentucky to live closer to him. They are seriously a perfect match! They absolutely adore each other, and their love just radiates- not to mention the amount of fun they have together, which made my job easy during this photo session! 🙂

Thanks Mark and Kenzi for letting me capture such a fun season in your relationship!

South Africa

I am so excited to finally launch my new website as Lori Hendrix Photography! This is something I’ve been working towards for a while now, and I’m thrilled to be able to share stories with you through the lens of my camera. Someone once said that “a picture speaks a thousand words,” and I couldn’t agree more. I believe that a simple photograph tells a unique story. I absolutely love being able to document what I see in the world around me!

With that being said, I am excited to share some photographs with you that are very dear to my heart. Recently, my husband and I took a trip to Durban, South Africa with a group from our church. Durban is a city on the southeastern coast of South Africa. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen! The city sat on the Indian Ocean and the landscape ranged from mountains and valleys to flat plains and beaches- I have never seen a sky so blue! The people were amazing and the children we worked with…oh goodness…I miss them every day. There is an orphanage in a nearby village where we spent the majority of our time loving on kids who are orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. To be honest, part of my heart was left in South Africa with those children. These are some photos of the precious faces we got to see every day while in Africa. I hope this gives you a glimpse of our trip and that each picture shares a unique story that can only be summed up by a photograph.
